A Muslim kids book with vibrant illustrations and clever read-aloud rhyme, parents will love reading this Islamic story to their young children, especially if they’ve had a bad dream. In this picture book, a four-year-old boy named Salahuddin wakes up one night from a terrifying nightmare. But his mother teaches him how to fight the cunning Shaytan, who loves to invade our dreams.
“Keep the nightmare away from anyone’s ears,
Because the sly little devil enjoys your fears.
He loves to think he’s made you scared,
So shoo Shaytan from your precious head.”
Muslim children can learn Islamic teachings alongside Salahuddin, such as the du’a before bed and Allah’s attributes, through beautiful memorable rhymes.
“Oh Allah, with Your name, I die and I live.
You are the One Who always forgives.”
Plus many more lessons taught by our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on how to shoo Shaytan from both our life and our dreams!
BONUS: Free activity page at the end to make this book personalised and extra special for your child.
Dr Aminah Mah –
The first thing that drew me in to read this book was its illustrations with vibrant colours. The story is told in a well thought-out tone for all children who have a bad dream from time to time. It helps children to understand their nightmares and teaches them ways to self-soothe through the gentle, reassuring voice of a loving parent. The authors have done a great job in creating a picture book that turns an unpleasant experience into a manageable part of life.

I had my kids read this book because the co-author came to their school. They loved it and want me to buy it!

My 6 year old often comes to my bed after a nightmare and while I love having him I don’t particularly enjoy the elbow in my eye and lack of sleep. Not exaggerating but since reading it the second time round he has not woken me up and that was 2 months ago. I don’t know if he just hasn’t had a nightmare since or just learned to shoo shaytan away!

My son and I absolutely adore this wonderful book! We love the rhythmic beat of the poem when reading the book aloud; the words the authors chose to include in the book has increased and expanded my son’s vocabulary, and the illustrations with the intricate details and vibrant colours are a feast to his eyes! I highly recommend this book to be read to babies (they will love the colourful pages), toddlers (they will appreciate the storyline and moral of the story) and pre-schoolers (excellent for practising their reading skills).
